CONVEYORIZED TUNNEL WASH:

Tunnel Washes are categorized in two distinct types:
(1)Exterior - The customers most often remains in the car as it is carried thru the automatic wash equipment, where the exterior of the car is washed, waxed and dried.
(2)Full Service - In a Full Service Car Wash the customers exit the car and walk through a gift shop and a viewing tunnel where they can watch the automatic equipment wash, wax and dry the vehicle. Additional car was services such as vacuuming, emptying the ash trays, washing windows, and hand detailing are provided by car wash workers.
Tunnel Washes, either Exterior or full Service are in two size categories:
(1) Large volume car washes - that wash 60 or more cars per hour. These are most often in bays of 60' or longer and many exceed 200' in length.
Mini - Tunnel car washes - less than 60 cars per hour. Mini - Tunnels are often built adjacent to or in existing Self-Service bays at Car Dealers or Convience Stores. Mini-Tunnels are typically 50' - 60' long.
Tunnel Washing Methods most commonly used are:
(1) Friction method - This type is usually equipped with soft cloth or bristle materials. Cars are washed with a combination of city water pressure, detergents, and friction.
(2) Frictionless method - This type is also known as touch free. Friction materials are placed with modern high-tech detergents and high-pressure applicators to deliver a high quality car wash. The touch free method of car washing has developed rapidly in the last decade.
Hybrid method - This type combine friction and frictionless, combining the best of both for consistent cleaning and reduced operating costs.
